About Vintage Mike’s Dirty Bikes
I started collecting vintage bicycles about 12 years ago. It all started when I wanted to buy a bicycle in Bloomington Minnesota. It was a nice day, and I just really wanted to go for ride on the trails that Minneapolis had to offer. At any rate, bikes are expensive and most of them I found for sale were ugly. Being a cheap ass, I found an old 80’s Schwinn World Sport bicycle in the dumpster where I lived. I plucked it from the garbage. The vintage bike wasn’t ride-able in it’s present state, so I took it upon myself to restore it. I honestly had no idea what I was doing at the time. However, I really enjoy fixing and refurbishing old vintage items, so it made for a very fun and interesting project. I ended up spending weeks taking all the bike components apart, cleaning, polishing, and making it a bicycle again. Before I knew it, I had so much fun with it that I wanted to fix up another old vintage bike. Now living in St. Cloud MN, I find myself spending hours in the garage tinkering with old bicycles.
The website I built is not a business. I built it mostly because I’ve always wanted to build a website. I figured since I had a Marketing background it would be important to learn how to do it. I’m not looking to make money with my hobby. There are many local bicycle shops in the St. Cloud and central Minnesota area and I do not wish to take business away from them. I do occasionally fix up bicycles for friends and family to help them out. I also will flip a bike or two as well. I hate seeing a decent bike that’ll get thrown to the scrap yard. So if I see a decent bicycle that’s worth my time I will fix it up and sell it mainly for the pure enjoyment of it. Feel free to contact me regarding questions, parts, or reconditioning your bike. I’d love to help!
